Google (GOOGL) (GOOG) announced today that they will be getting rid of their 30 second non-skippable ads on YouTube staring in 2018. They will keep their 6 second, 15 second and 20 second non-skippable YouTube ads.

This announcement comes shortly after Facebook (FB) announced that it’s getting rid of pre-roll ads on their videos. Facebook said they will have only mid-rolls for their ads.

Both Facebook and YouTube are trying to find the right mix of videos ads that will appeal to both Advertisers AND Users/Viewers.
