Children’s Place reports earnings Thursday May 18th after the close.

In the last 17 quarters, it’s had 14 beats, 2 meets, and 1 miss.

It’s main competitor, Gymboree, could file for bankruptcy in June.

When we were younger, our mom used to buy clothes for us from Gymboree and Children’s Place. Now that we are older, we have outgrown Gymboree clothes, but she still buys us our pants from Children’s Place.

Retail companies took it out the chin this past week. Companies like Macy’s (M), Nordstrom (JWN), Kohl’s (KSS) and J.C. Penney (JCP) were down this past week due to poor earnings.

Specialty retailers who have great loyalty programs like Ulta Beauty (ULTA) and Children’s Place are doing well in this market.

Children’s Place beats EPS by 3.8% on average.

Children’s Place goes up after earnings by 10.9% on average.

We are long January 2018 calls.
